We often keep objects in our homes that have a story behind them. Why do we keep them? Where did they come from? What were they for? Did these objects once belong to someone else? Photographer and archaeologist Brian Mac Domhnaill invites you to bring along an object and tell its story.

Brian will begin this informal event by giving a brief overview of his own thoughts on objects and our relationships with them. He will give examples of a number of his own interactions with objects from his childhood into his career as an archaeologist and more recently as an artist. Most importantly he will be bringing along a small number of objects from his large and eclectic collection of sentimental mememntos, mysterious creations, ancient wonders and what would appear at first glance to be useless tat. All will be revealed.

Once everyone is inspired and hungry for more Brian will invite the participants to share their own objects and stories. There will be plenty of opportunity for questions and discussion as well as handling and looking at objects.

With the cooperation of participants Brian will attempt to record the vital statistics and story of each object and take a quick photograph, hopefully featuring the owner (or just their hands if they are camera shy). The descriptions and photos will be added to a photo album on the This Must Be The Place Facebook page, creating an impromptu online museum exhibit for all to see.
