Join the artist in conversation on 24 November, 1pm followed by live sound performance with Irene Murphy, Danny McCarthy and Mick O'Shea.

Miranda Driscoll (director of Sirius Arts Centre) and Anthony Kelly will have a conversation exploring some of the themes and ideas in his exhibition Floating Point . Future Memories, which is currently on show in the Centre Gallery of the Sirius Arts Centre. The conversation will continue in sound, moving into a short live improvised collaborative performance with invited artists Irene Murphy, Danny McCarthy and Mick O'Shea.

Anthony Kelly is a Dublin-based artist whose practice involves sonic and visual approaches to art-making. This includes painting, drawing, field recording, sculpture, sound installation, film/video, and improvised sound performance. Although diverse in construction, his work chiefly concentrates on the shifting and fragmentary nature of sensory experience. To explore this he uses the discarded or overlooked aspects of the world around him, which he enlarges and amplifies to create his work.

Floating Point . Future Memories, his new exhibition at the Sirius Arts Centre further explores some of the ongoing themes inherent in his work while opening them out into new and varied directions. The exhibition will include the artist in conversation and an improvised sound performance by Kelly and invited guests.

Anthony Kelly’s work has been exhibited widely in Ireland and abroad. Some of his recent projects and exhibitions include In-stream, Ulster University Art Gallery & QSS Gallery and Studios, Belfast; A Sound Map of Dún Laoghaire (ongoing); Play > Record Rewind / Engine Room Gallery, Belfast; The Soft Wave, The Drawing Project Gallery, IADT Dún Laoghaire; Blue Monday, MART, Dublin; Strange Attractor, Crawford Art Gallery, Cork; Unforeseen, RHA Gallery & The Joinery, Dublin; and Cold Wave, Triskel Arts Centre, Cork. He is a co-director of the Farpoint Recordings label with David Stalling.
